A big event is being organized in Rayagada Kashipur to protect natural resources on World Environment Day. Many prominent environmentalists and activists of the country are scheduled to participate in it. India’s prominent environmentalist Medha Patekar will join the anti-company activists to motivate and guide them to save Mother Earth. Kashipur will be in the eyes of all the media in the country.

In the meeting organized at Sunger Hatpada in Kashipur, environmentalist Prafulla Samantara, farmer leader Lingaraj, national convener of the mass movement Lingaraj Azad and state convener Narendra Mohanty will join mass movement leader Medha Patekar, it has been mentioned in a press release by Ma-Mati-Mali-Suraksha Manch, Kashipur-Thuamul Rampur.

The press release mentions that climate change and global warming are the biggest threats in the world. The main reason for this is the unbridled mining and destructive industrialization for the luxurious life of big rich countries and rich people and for the profits of companies. Instead of protecting natural resources like water, forests, and land, the government is donating mining water to companies at will, without changing its policy for sustainable development.

It is against the law for the state government to give mining land to Vedanta and Adani companies in Sijimali and Kuturumali of Kashipur without the consent of the village council. It is known that this gathering will play a decisive role in further expanding the fight for the protection of Sijimali, Kuturumali, and Majhimali. Even though these two companies were granted mining rights, it was not possible to visit all those places due to public opposition. The platform has called on the public to join this gathering and take a pledge to take the anti-company movement forward and protect the Mati Mayya mountain forests. As a result, concerns about Vedanta and Adani companies are growing.
